"Edgerank" algorithm on Facebook

As far as I know about EdgeRank, it's (EdgeRank is) the special type of an algorithm used by Facebook to determine the most screen-worthy content. There are three reasons mixed together, determine your content’s value: congeniality/affinity, encumbrance and time. The congeniality score is based on how often a fan has engaged with your brand content in the past, including page visits. encumbrance, or popularity, is determined by the type and quantity of engagement your post receives (e.g. Likes, comments). Lastly, time and the decay of your post matters; as your content ages and engagement wanes, it becomes less relevant and therefore less likely to appear in a user’s news feed.

Here I want to ask you that did you attention (notice) that you mostly see those posts from the same people and same pages on your Facebook newsfeed? do you ever think about it with yourself why you always see status updates and posts by your best friend but never posts from some other Facebook friends? That is the reason for that is called Edge Rank algorithm which decides what posts you will see and what not.

The Truth is. Each Facebook user can choose how will their feed look like and in which order the post will appear. We can choose to always see the latest posts, no matter who published them by clicking on Recent Stories First in our feed settings. However most of the users don´t know that or they rather choose Highlighted Stories First, which gives even more importance to EdgeRank.

Their congeniality shows the number that which says how many persons or pages are connected with you. Here you are much better connected with a friend with whom you communicate every day over Facebook messenger or tagging in posts than with someone whose friend request you accepted a year ago but never communicated with. The same goes for pages, too. That is much better chance that your content will show up on a feed of someone who regularly interacts with your page by liking and commenting than to someone which only liked your page and never reacted on your content again.

Encumbrance(weight,) means that there is a huge possibility that certain content will show up in newsfeeds of people than others. It depends again on the amount of interaction on our posts. Whether a post has a lot of likes, shares, and comments, the possibility is better that it will show up in feeds of others too. The objects like pictures and videos are the most interactive content to post on your page.

According to the last factor is, time wastage or Recency says how old is the post. The chronic posts slowly disappear from the news feed and make a place for the new ones. Supposing that you want to achieve the best results with your posts, publish them in a time when most of your users will be scrolling through their Facebook feeds.
